Floyd Mayweather Jr. was sentenced to serve six months in prison after pleading guilty to misdemeanor assault and harassment charges, according to Dan Rafael of ESPN. Mayweather will surrender on Jan. 6 and serve three months, the second half of his sentence will be suspended.

In the plea deal, the original felony charges the boxer faced were reduced to misdemeanor charges. During the September 2010 incident in question, Mayweather was accused of hitting and threatening his ex-girlfriend and then threatening two of their children (at the time, 10 and 9 years old). The argument occurred because the boxer believed the woman was dating another man.

The plea deal also included an agreement for Mayweather to plead “no contest” to misdemeanor battery charges and to pay a $1,000 fine in connection with a previous incident in November 2010 outside of Mayweather’s multi-million dollar Las Vegas home. In the incident, Mayweather allegedly got into a heated argument with homeowner association security guards regarding parking tickets on his bevy of expensive vehicles outside of his home.
