Fedor's next fight after Monson? Whos the best opponent out there?
Working under the assumption that Fedor beats Monson, who's out there as possible next opponents... who would be the best next opponent for Fedor?
An ESPN article touches on this question, sorta...
"Monson represents an upgrade over the opponents originally being discussed by M-1 when the November return seemed certain (Travis Wiuff, Mike Whitehead, and allegedly Kevin Randleman)."

And also, it's pretty clear at this point that Strikeforce will be folded into the UFC as early as February 2012, so there may be some fighters including HWs that get lost in the shuffle and dont go over to the UFC and would be available to fight Fedor (mere speculation though).

IF Fedor beats Monson than he should just RETIRE, What better way to go out than a WIN in ur home country, with ur family and closest friends. After a decade of DOMINANCE Its perfect for him.

He still has a couple of good years in him...
But anyway, IF he chooses not to retire yet, THEN who would be the best/next possible/probable opponents?
Thats the question.

Fedors only 34 years old, come on no need for him to retire. This ant Roy Jones Jr, its Fedor, he will beat Monson, he should fight someone like Gonzola or Duffman, maybe Aorloski II or Brett II?
Seriously, Vitali still fighting at 40 years old, Wlad's 35 and his still fighting, Fedor's younger and can still fight for a solid 5-7 years.

The exciting new name on the HW scene, the Black Fedor (aka Daniel Cormier) is 32 years old himself.
34 is not that old.

Cormier is 32 and Fedor is going to turn 35 this month. Not like it matters, Fedor has 35 fights under his belt. Cormier has how many, 9? 10? Fighting for so long takes a toll on your body. Wanderlei Silva is 35 and is another fighter who i feel should retire and has arguably been past his prime since around 07 or 08.

I am a huge fan of Fedor and who am I to judge if he should retire or not, but I personally would prefer a retirement. There aren't many good HWs he can face outside of UFC/SF these days and watching him face mediocre competition like some of the former HW veterans are doing atm. (Ricco, Ken, Pedro etc.) would be sad.

Of course Fedor is a genius fighter and may have a lot of fight left in him, but there's no denying he is changed. All fighters, like all artists, change with time and a fighter's style is always in flux. But my opinion is he is changed for the worse. He used to have a cerebral and tactical side to him, now he is a sloppy overtrained brawler. He simply abandoned what made him great, unlike the Klitschkos, who have always stuck to their guns. I'll always watch him fight, but unless he changes for the better, he is better off retired. Maybe the Monson fight will prove me wrong, we shall see.

its not that they weren't winnable its that prime fedor would have beaten them easily.

Yeah, I fixed that... I might have been looking at Josh Barnett's page (he's 33)...
I was thinking that if Barnett loses to DC he may not be "invited" to the UFC (or even if he wins).... and Josh Barnett might be an option!
I'd love to see Fedor-Barnett... finally.
Its not MMA but DC "fought" in Olympic wrestling, its not like he wasnt working his body all those years. Just saying.
